Hassler

Robert H Hassler built his first experimental motor buggy in 1898.  The car was not marketed, however Hassler was among the people who organized the Marion Motor Company and he went into business for himself making Shock Absorbers, transmissions and other automotive components as Robert H Hassler Inc. The Automotive bug bit him again in 1917, and he organized the Hassler Motor Company to manufacture and automobile. The HAssler was offered as a $1650 2 passenger staggered seat 112” wheelbase roadster only. It featured a 4 cylinder Buda Engine, Auto lite ignition and Brown Lipe Gears, Houck wire wheels and a suspension like the Marmons. “The Restful Riding Car” was a slogan. Several Hasslers were shown at the Chicago Auto Show that summer.  They may have been the only production as in the Fall the company filed for dissolution, its founder having decided according to the Press that It is not the time to place a new car on the market”.
